45 'hoarded' dogs taken from home will remain at Missouri Humane ...

JOHNSON COUNTY, Mo. - Forty-five dogs taken from a Johnson County, Mo., home will remain at the Missouri Humane Society in St. Louis.

The dogs had been living in 12 wire cages full of feces before Sheriff's deputies rescued them.

Veterinarians say many of them were underfed, had bugs in their eyes and feces encrusted on their paws and legs.

While the Humane Society deplored the conditions the animals were found in by the Johnson County, Mo., Sheriff's office, the home's owner told 41 Action News he did nothing wrong.

The owner, Aaron Bishop, said about half the dogs were kept in the cages, while the rest roamed freely throughout his home.

Bishop said he would leave the animals inside the house for about eight hours a day while he went to work in Olathe, Kan.

Many of the dogs are going to be made available for adoption at The Humane Society.
